Shoreline has a series of murals celebrating some of Black history’s most influential leaders and June Teenth.

Happy Juneteenth, 2021

The mural celebrates the emancipation of enslaved people in Texas on June 19, 1865, and the end of slavery in the United States.

Portrait of Ida B. Wells, 2022

The portrait in the mural is of Ida B. Wells, a prominent journalist, educator, and an early civil-rights leader.

Portrait of Booker T.,  2023

Booker T. Washington was a Black educator and leader who founded the Tuskegee Institute. He also advocated for vocational training and economic self-reliance for Black people.

NOTES

12/30/2023 - Over the years, I've seen this area in Shoreline remain stagnate with nothing new to offer the people passing by, going from point A to point B. These murals reflect a positive change for the community and gives homage to some of America's most influential voices and Juneteenth.
